We’ve just put the final touches on a new custom website for Erin Hession Photography. This new website certainly is one-of-a-kind. In the past, we’ve developed websites based entirely on code and graphics. This new website takes our abilities to the next level and allows us to introduce a more rich, animated and interactive product.

Erin came to us needing something that stood out from the rest. She needed not only a new look and feel for her website, but she needed to make an instant impression on her potential clients.

For this new custom website, we utilized a new custom design with animated drop down navigation. We also introduced a flash based slideshow that rotates between photos and customer testimonials. Each page has page transition animation and a full screen background image. In addition, we utilized spectacular image galleries and even chose some awesome music to go along with the individual nature of each gallery (check out the Pets Gallery).

Earlier this week, we launched a major website change for Chris Johnson and the Johnson Realty Group at F.C. Tucker.

The Johnson Realty Group had a website already, but came to us looking for a way to improve their overall conversion and search positioning. After working up one of our site reviews, examining every aspect of the design, content, search positioning and social media interaction, we were able to highlight aspects of their website that we could help them improve.

Many of the changes that they asked us to handle surrounded usability and visitor conversion. In addition, we added a lot of new content that focused on the Indianapolis and surrounding area, an easier to use navigation and contact forms for visitor conversion.

We started with their design layout and changed it around to fit their needs, by adding sections for feature items. We then created an internal site structure that will allow the site to grow as they need it.

The final portion of the site is the social media side. When this is finished, each visitor will be able to sign up and create their own social profile directly on the site and interact with other site users.

This week we launched a new site for a local condo development on Morse Reservoir! The Villas on Morse Lake is a premium condominium development that has units priced between $100k and $250k. These upscale homes overlook Morse Reservoir and include a lot of high-end amenities such as a heated underground parking garage, balconies, boat docks, and a clubhouse and fitness center.

They contacted us with a need to have a custom look for their new development. We worked with their new branding to create a completely custom design and applied that design to a content management system, giving them the ability to maintain the content on the site as needed. We also developed a jQuery photo gallery and jQuery gradual menu rollovers to give the site an enhanced image.

We’ve been hard at work recently with a number of new websites that are launching. The first site is for Classic Cakes. Not only are they one of the best cake bakeries in Indianapolis, but they were also voted the A-List best for wedding cakes in 2007, 2008, and 2009.

They contacted us with a need for a new image. Their old website was outdated and they didn’t have any way to update it. Their previous site didn’t flow with their current branding.

We delivered in a big way with a custom design and applied that custom design to a content management system so they could maintain their site as needed. In addition, we also integrated a blog into their site, giving them the ability to post highlights from recent weddings, specials, events and much more.

Not sure what this means? Well, real estate agents must be licensed by the state of Indiana in order to help you buy or sell your home. Every two years, their license comes up for renewal and as part of their renewal, they’re required to have 16 credit hours of continuing education on a variety of topics. Recently we ran into an issue with the plugin that is caused by a default limitation in WordPress.

“Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 67108864 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 4000 bytes)”.

An error like this would obviously prevent any photo from being resized after upload, but it also prevents the photo from completing the upload process.

The cause of this error is a default setting in WordPress. By default WP installs with a default memory limit of 32M. This is the maximum amount of memory that can be used by PHP. Some web hosts will pre-set this limit to something really low (like 8M) and some will not let you change this. However, in this case, if your web host allows you to change this here’s what you’ll need to do to increase this limit and avoid this fatal error:

1. Open wp_settings.php and search for “WP_MEMORY_LIMIT’. This will most likely be at the start of the file around line 13.
2. Change the default number for the memory amount allocated for PHP. I recommend 64M or 96M. In some cases you may just need to increase the limit slightly, but for WordPress sites that use a lot of plugins, you’ll want to increase this level more since there will be more of the PHP plugins that will be using that limit.
3. Save the file and upload to your site.
4. Try uploading the files again to see if this has solved the error.

InspireMedia has launched a new site this week! A Touch of Elegance is a mother/daughter event coordination team. They contacted InspireMedia needing a new custom design for their site. Not only did we give them a new custom design, but we built their site in such a way that it will grow with their business for years to come. The site is built off of the popular WordPress content management system and blogging platform and features a custom gallery plugin customizable contact forms, and more.
